RAF AIR CADETS
398 (Staines & Egham) Squadron Air Training Corps is a unit within the RAF Air Cadets, a leading national youth organisation for young people between 12 and 19.
Our Squadron was formed in 1941 and has had as many as 200 cadets at one time. Having originally been located in Staines, we are now based at our site in Egham, Surrey, just outsidethe other side of the river.
We are one of 25 Squadrons in Middlesex Wing, covering the area between Surrey and London.
Our cadets meet on Monday and Thursday evenings, when we carry out a wide range of activities, training and projects.
In addition to our parade night activities, cadets get the opportunity to take part in a wide range of weekend activities both on and off of the squadron.
Parade Night Timings
7:15pm Parade starts, when everyone is told what's on the training programme for the night and there is often a quick inspection of everyone's uniform.
7:20pm Parade finishes and lessons start.
8:00pm There's a short break.
8:20pm Then more activities until...
9:00pm Clear up after activities, before the final parade starts.
9:15pm Final parade is the time when upcoming events and important announcements are made, as well as presentations of awards or certificates and even a promotion sometimes.
9:35pm The final parade ends and everyone heads home.
We plan a busy calender of events, both on the squadron and elsewhere.
