When can I join?

Wow.......When can I join?

A lot of cadets get invited down for the first time by a friend, but don't worry about turning up on your own. You're very welcome to come and visit us on any Monday or Thursday parade evening. The squadron's a great place to meet people. When you've all walked across Dartmoor, or flown for a couple of hours in a Hercules transport aircraft together, you're bound to make friends.

To join you just need to be between 13 and 17 years old. Any nationality, male or female. All you need to give is your time and effort and subs of just £10.00 per month to help pay for activites.

What happens when I come down to the Squadron?

Bring your parents, or a friend if you like. Have a look around. Chat to one of the uniformed staff and some of the cadets. Get your parents to do a bit of paperwork and then, most importantly, get involved! We want everyone who comes down to get stuck in straight away. We'll talk through some of the basics of being a cadet what to do on a parade, what to call the Commanding Officer and then you'll join in with everyone else.

The recruit training course

We have recruit intakes several times each year. Everyone starts at the same time and goes through a series of training and activity nights to make sure you have the training to get the most of the ATC as quickly as possible. Within a couple of evenings you'll be shooting, a few evenings later you'll be involved in activities with all the other cadets and have the chance to go flying, gliding, shooting and on adventure training. Best of all, you'll start with a group of people just like you and get to know them all as you train.
