Our Squadron and what we do
398 (Egham & Staines) Squadron Air Training Corps was formed in 1941 and has had as many as 200 cadets at one time. We are now based at our site in Egham, Surrey, just outside Staines. We are one of 25 Squadrons in Middlesex Wing.
We meet on Monday and Thursday evenings, when we do our activities, training and projects. We also have frequent activities at weekends. On a parade evening, this is how things run...
Parade night timings
- 7:15pm Parade starts, when everyone is told what's on the training programme for the night and there is often a quick inspection of everyone's uniform.
- 7:30pm Parade finishes and lessons start.
- 8:10pm There's a short break.
- 8:35pm Then more activities until...
- 9:15pm Clear up after activities, before the final parade starts.
- 9:20pm Final parade is the time when upcoming events and important announcements are made, as well as presentations of awards or certificates and even a promotion sometimes.
- 9:45pm The final parade ends and everyone heads home.
